MEET THE DIRECTOR
CHRISTINA CARAVELLA
Director & Choreographer
The founder and director of Individuality Dance Company is Christina Caravella. Christina has been involved in the dance community since she was very young and always had a dream to become a teacher and choreographer. Unfortunately, along the way, she was told the words - “you will never be good enough.” To most children this would have been the end and it was for Christina for a while. With the support of her family, teammates, and teachers she decided to give it another try. She wanted to prove those who have said “I could never make it as a dancer”… wrong.
Christina worked hard and it paid off. Throughout her years as a competitive dancer, she has gained multiple awards, scholarships and has been recognized by other professional choreographers at The Beat Dance Convention Tour, the Pulse Tour, and Kids Artistic Revue Tour. Christina decided to pursue her professional career as a dancer by choreographing/teaching for multiple studios across Long Island, working for dance competitions and dancing for Arrhythmia Dance Company. Christina has danced for the Alvin Ailey showcase in New York City and the Beat Dance Convention Tour. Within her professional career, Christina has received several Choreography Awards, Judges Awards, and High Scoring Titles for her pieces at competitions including Kids Artistic Review, Legacy, Dance Xplosion, Dancers Inc, Edge Talent, and many others.
It has always been her goal to teach children not only about dance, but life lessons. Every piece Christina creates has an underlying meaning that helps dancers get through a difficult time, prove others wrong, or raise awareness on sensitive topics. These are the specific intentions for Individuality Dance Company. To teach children and young adults- “Don’t be afraid to be yourself.” Not only does Christina serve as a teacher for the company members, she serves as a role model- teaching them that "as long as you are dedicated and give everything you have, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.”
